Things I probably shouldn't do...

...and if my mother-in-law knew I was doing them, I'd be dead meat.

  • Hopping on a sled with the boys in front of me... with Meaghan strapped on my front in an ergo... careening down a hill towards an icy marsh.
  • Nursing a hungry baby while waiting in line at a car wash... vehicles pulled ahead and Meaghan was still feeding, so I just put the van into gear and pulled up the next 8 metres, too.

Those are the only two biggies I can come up with... hee hee... but Meaghan sure enjoyed that sled ride!  (And yes, I was careful... we didn't go too fast!)

Babywearing

So, I have Meaghan on my back in the mei-tai I made before she was born.

Only problem is, she keeps grabbing my HAIR!!  I have it all piled up on the top of my head, but she can still reach the little tendrils at the nape of my neck.  So I've handed her a little purple duck that she's chewing the patooties out of, I'm sure there'll be a big drool-spot on my back by the time we're done, but at least she's not grabbing my hair.  For now.

Until she gets tired of chewing the purple duckie...

Two words.

Sling.
Poop.

Explanation:
When wearing a baby in a sling or wrap, she has to be quite snug to your body or she risks falling out.  This means that there's a LOT of support on the baby's bum.

Question:
When there's a lot of support on her bum, and she decides that *this* is the perfect time to have her weekly bowel movement, well, where do you think it all goes?

Answer:
From her shoulder blades all the way down to her toes, and back up to her belly button.

Projects

I'm doing it again.

Adding project upon project... just because I can.

Because doing laundry, cleaning the kitchen incessantly, keeping house, and raising children isn't enough.

So this is my "dream list".

  • Make pita bread successfully (with pockets & everything!) - check. First try! That was yesterday's project.
  • Make English muffins successfully - check. That was today's project, and they are a hit!
  • Make yet another wrap. My blue one isn't quite working out any longer for longer walks, as Meaghan is getting heavier and it's constantly stretching too much and I'm having to readjust. I made a pink one a couple months ago, and while it's worked for the weight of her, I don't love the material - it's a bit too slippery. So I went to a diff't fabric store in Edmonton yesterday and found what I *hope* is the perfect material. And now I'm looking to borrow a serger so I can serge the edges instead of hem them.
  • Make a babywearing poncho. It is COLD out there now - taking Meggie for walks, or to the bus stop... the wee dollie is warm enough, but Mama's jacket isn't big enough to go around us, and as a result, Mama is COLD!! So instead of spending $60 or $70 on a poncho online, I found some material yesterday to, umm, well, make one. :)
  • I found some corn flour at the grocery store yesterday in the bulk bin. So I picked some up, and I want to try making corn flour buns. Not corn bread - that's different. Should be interesting.
And... that's it for now. Not a huge list - and I only really have 3 things left undone on it... right? Shouldn't take long... right???

Um...

...not feeling too creative.

Again.

I'm getting sick.

Again. Or...still?

Whatever the kids have/had (did I blog about my trip to Health First with Dustin one night?), I seem to be getting. My throat is killing me!! Dizzy, headachy, tired, sore throat, some stuffiness... the kicker is that it's taking SO slow to come on. While I don't like being sick, I wish this thing would just kick me in the butt so I can kick it back. But this is so painfully slow... just get it on and over with, already!

I had a sweet walk with Meggie-bear tonight. I have not been feeling well for several days now, but needed to get out of the house tonight. I'd wanted to go to Ikea, but didn't have time, so instead I went for a walk. I stuck Meaghan in my wrap, and off we went - around the wetlands, through the neighborhood, and home 45 minutes later. She was grumpy when we left the house, but as soon as I stepped onto the sidewalk, she was happy as a clam. Made about 4 peeps the entire time - all happy cooing noises. Otherwise, was looking around, smiling, arching her head to look (I wonder if she's ready for a forward-facing carry yet?)... it was awesome. Best 45 minutes of my day.

To bed with my head. Couldn't nap today for all the banging in the house - the electrician was here and had a LOT of hammering to do to tack wires all over the place in our basement for new outlets, new lights, new switches... it was a loud day. I'm impressed the kids slept for me, at least.

Seriously. Good night. ZZZZzzzzz..........
